    Ready or not, Thanksgiving is right around the corner! Here in Daytona, we like to take our celebrations outdoors as much as possible to soak up the amazing weather and views. This year, join in on the fun at nearby New Smyrna Beach for the annual Turkey Day Beach 5K. Start your festivities on the right foot—literally—by participating with the community on this fun morning run. Whether you’re a marathon-pro or simply looking to get in a few extra steps before all the extra stuffing, the 5K welcomes all skill levels in a friendly, low-stress environment. Come decked out in your best Thanksgiving-themed costumes for an extra dose of fun! And in the spirit of the giving season, the proceeds from the event go towards numerous local charities in the area. Afterward, indulge in a filling and loving Thanksgiving meal and help yourself to double the mashed potatoes—you earned it!

    We don’t have our rep for being the speed city for nothing, and keeping with our rep, you can catch racers in action all weekend long during Biketoberfest. October 18-21, join over 100,000 other visitors to watch the annual Daytona Beach motorcycle rally. Catch experienced bikers and motorcycle enthusiasts to watch the pros compete in a number of exhilarating races throughout the weekend on our famous Daytona International Speedway. In between the exciting races, you can enjoy live music, activities, and vendors for merchandise. Daytona shines during the fall season, Biketoberfest is a chance to immerse yourself in the Daytona community and welcome in the fall season—all while checking out some incredible racing and getting up close with flawless motorcycles. Place your bets, we can’t wait to see who wins big this year!

    Get Jazzy at the New Smyrna Beach Jazz Fest

    Music-lovers, this one's for you! Just a short twenty-minute ride to New Smyrna awaits the annual New Smyrna Beach Jazz Festival, September 20-23. One of central Florida’s most talked-about events, enjoy a celebratory three-day outing with incredible food and drinks, activities, and of course: amazing jazz! Right along the bustling Flagler Avenue, concertgoers can anticipate moving venue to venue down the avenue, with a great performance around every corner. Over the years, the festival’s popular turnout has encouraged the festival to expand to include Third Avenue, Canal Street, Atlantic Avenue and the North Causeway. What started as a simple passion project in 2001 has now grown to over 24 venues attracting renowned musicians from all over the country, including the late great Harold Blanchard—a New Smyrna native. Whether you’re a jazz-aficionado, or just love tappin’ your toes to some great music, the New Smyrna Beach Jazz Festival is an event unlike any other.

    Toast the Full Moon at Ponce Inlet Lighthouse

    Daytona, we’re turning our gaze upwards! Every month, the historic Ponce Inlet Lighthouse welcomes visitors to an evening of admiration of the setting sun and the rising of the full moon. This month, the full moon lands on Sunday, August 26. Join the lighthouse beginning at 7:15 p.m.—we suggest getting tickets ahead of time!—where you can enjoy a sparkling beverage, light bites and expansive views from the famous landmark. So often we spend our time looking down at our phones, there’s something magical about a night of disconnecting with technology and reconnecting with nature’s most impressive sights. Just 25-minute drive from our property, the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse is the state’s tallest lighthouse overlooking the sparkling Atlantic Ocean. Evening strolls along the beach are always dreamy, but soaking up the night sky from high above? That’s one for the books.

    Your Fourth of July Festivities Covered

    Stopping by this July? We’ve got some fun plans for you. This month, two of our favorite events align for an evening of incredible music and lively celebration. The 2018 Bandshell Summer Concert Series, a Daytona summer staple, will host a show July 4 to coincide with spectacular evening fireworks for our nation’s Independence Day. Join the festivities at the historic Coquina Amphitheater, where you can snag a front-row view to great live music bands from a wide range of genres. On the Fourth, you’ll be treated to the Alter Eagles, an Eagles tribute band, beginning at 7 p.m. Grab a drink, a couple lawn chairs, and groove to your favorite Eagles hits before catching the firework show over the pier. You’ll love the event, but more than that? You’ll love joining the community in celebrating this holiday the Daytona way.

    Celebrate Summer at the Daytona Boardwalk and Pier

    Create everlasting summer memories on the Daytona Beach Boardwalk and Pier. The heart of Daytona Beach is a lively, colorful center for family fun activities. Just south of the Ocean Walk Shoppes and Bandshell, the boardwalk features amusement rides, shops, restaurants, and more to spend an afternoon or evening exploring—but be warned, all of the excitement and attractions will make you want to stay all day long. Thrill-seekers will love the aptly named Screamer’s Park with wild rides like the Slingshot, which propels you 365-feet into the air at 70 miles per hour. And if you prefer chill instead of thrill, there are plenty of calm rides, games, and a fully-stocked classic arcade to spend your time in. Now through Labor Day, the Boardwalk and Pier welcome the Daytona Beach Bandshell Concert and Fireworks. Cheers to summer with great live music and thrilling fireworks to wrap up an evening full of true Daytona fun.

    Art in the Park Returns for its 46th Event

    Uncover the artsy side of Daytona with an afternoon at Art in the Park. The 46th annual event on May 5 and May 6 takes to the Rockefeller Gardens to bring together the region’s talented community of fine artists and crafters. Walk along the banks of the Halifax River and explore a wide variety of art mediums while also getting the chance to meet the artists behind the work. This popular event is a great opportunity to get outside and enjoy the sunshine, but also to come together to support the arts community. Find handmade and artisanal works to admire, purchase, or give as gifts to loved ones made from local artists that love what they do. Art in the Park is hosted by the City of Ormond Beach Department of Leisure Services, in partnership with the Ormond Memorial Art Museum. Every year, people come together to share their love of art—in it all its forms.

    Who says your Daytona adventures are just for the daytime? You can take your exploration to the sky’s nighttime stars with a stop by the Museum of Arts & Sciences (MOAS). There, their digital planetarium offers a chance to uncover the universe’s greatest secrets through a seamless blend of science, art, and technology. View space-themed films in the museum’s dome theater, take a tour of the night sky with an educated tour guide, and get your galaxy questions answered from a presenting scientist. Their state-of-the-art software supplies a 3-D perspective that allows the museum to access the star field from any location on Earth, making for a night ride through the galaxy right here in Daytona. With a mission dedicated to bringing out the wonder in all of us, MOAS gives us an immersive chance to explore the unknown. Houston, there are no problems here.

That’s all thanks to it being the host of the Daytona 500, the most iconic race of NASCAR. And during your visit to Daytona, we suggest adding some thrill to your trip with a tour of this exhilarating racetrack. With a variety of tours to choose from—the Speedway Tour, All-Access Tour, and VIP Tour—you can take part in all the action and history yourself. On the Speedway Tour, experience the 31-degree high banks on a tram that coasts around turns and brings you right to the winner’s podium in Gatorade Victory Lane. All-Access? You’ll come face-to-face with the track’s start and finish lines, ride down pit road, and meet the champion car from this year’s Daytona 500. It’s hard not to feel the adrenaline pulsing through this fast-paced Daytona landmark.

    An Afternoon Stroll Down Beach Street

    Take a day off from crazy packed, all-day schedules and unwind with a stroll down Downtown Daytona’s historic promenade, South Beach Street. No matter if you’re looking to purchase unique souvenirs or to simply peruse what the quiet side of Daytona has to offer, Beach Street’s antique shops, boutiques, and eateries will fill your afternoon without draining all your energy (or wallet!). Make your way down the mile-long riverfront park and pass the historic Jackie Robinson Stadium which first opened in June of 1914, if it’s baseball season you may even be able to catch a game.     On the quiet side of Daytona, time slows, and there’s simply no better place to lay back and relax. Wander over to the Daytona Beach Farmers’ Market at City Island to partake in a favorite local custom. Every Saturday morning from 7am to 1pm, the City Island parking lot—next to Jackie Robinson Ballpark—is filled with local vendors sourcing fresh produce, spices, snacks, and even landscape plants. Stock up on fresh greens, peppers, fruits, and more while you make your way through the inviting stalls. On the opposite end, yard sale tables with various items like books, records, and more are available for purchase. And even if you’re not looking to buy anything, this weekly event captures the close-knit community in a hustle-and-bustle gathering place fit for everyone. Traveling with the little ones? A small children’s playground located at the market is a great place for them to run off energy while you dig into some of the fresh, juicy fruit before hitting the beach for some much needed relaxation.
